IT took a while before this Hertfordshire derby sprang to life in front of Hitchin’s best home attendance of the season, being marked by grim defending and midfield attrition.
Royston’s Matt Bateman had the first real chance, courtesy of an error by Ciaren Jones, but the striker shot wide. Closer by far was the next effort by the visitors and manof-the-match Toby Syme was able to make an off-the-line clearance.
