A LATE Beaconsfield fightback sparked hopes of an improbable comeback but Lewis Powell’s 81st-minute strike ensured the visitors ran out handy winners.
Merthyr dominated early on, Frazer Thomas prominent throughout in combination with the outstanding Bubacarr Sama down the right.
Thomas was heavily involved in the opener, skipping past Olly Sprague before supplying the cross that Lewis Powell nodded over debutant Cairo Richards into the far corner.
