HITCHIN finished the campaign with an unexpectedly comfortable win against a somewhat meek Ilkeston who had to wait until stoppage time for a consolation penalty goal to give some respectability to the score.
The late surge in form from the hosts continued as they attacked with a will and a purpose, straining the Ilkeston defence, with Finley Wilkinson and Diogo Gouveia looking particularly dangerous.
