A GOAL early in each half lifted Winchester to victory over Basingstoke in an otherwise drab game.
It took less than five minutes for the Citizens to break through, a mistake in the Basingstoke defence allowing Tommy Wright to take aim from the edge of the box and although Simon Grant parried his strike, Jamie Barron was first to the loose ball to squeeze in the rebound from a tight angle.
