MERTHYR Town warmed up for next week’s title showdown with AFC Totton by brushing aside Bracknell Town in convincing fashion.
It means Paul Michael’s men will start Saturday’s head-to-head six points clear of their closest rivals after they were held to a draw by Swindon Supermarine.
The Martyrs assumed control of this contest by establishing a two-goal advantage inside 20 minutes.
Skipper Tom Handley fired home an opening goal from Noah Smerdon’s cutback before Keiran Evans doubled the lead from distance.
