POOLE got back to winning ways with a narrow victory over Basingstoke to move to third in the table.
Despite the horrendous weather conditions, both teams tried to play entertaining football.
The Dophins started much the brighter with Shaquille Gwengwe hitting the side netting, Harvey Slade firing over and Antonio Diaz’s shot straight at Basingstoke keeper Joel Halliday.
Poole took a deserved lead when Corey Jordan’s cross was met perfectly by Gwengwe to bundle the ball in from a foot out.
