BASINGSTOKE Town secured their Step Three status with a composed and ultimately convincing performance at a rain-lashed Bulpit Lane with a win that confirmed Hungerford Town’s relegation.
The visitors struck early. Hungerford hesitated at the back, and Josh Green pounced, meeting a loose ball with a crisp volley that flew beyond Cairney.
Moments later, George Reid came within inches of doubling the lead, only to see his effort cannon off the crossbar.
