■ IN a battle of two struggling sides, a lone Connor French goal gave Rovers victory.
The first half was an open contest with Thatcham’s Kieran Jordan and Alex Miller keeping the Rovers defence on their toes and it was Jordan who went closest to opening the scoring midway through the half, bringing a great save of if Craig Bradshaw.
At the other end, Rovers debutant Kiye Martin fired just wide of the left-hand post.
Rovers struck a minute into the second half, French rifling home his first goal for the club from just outside the area.
