■ ASHFORD United positioned themselves at the top of the table with victory over VCD Athletic.
In difficult conditions, the Nuts & Bolts saw out victory in a professional manner.
The deadlock was broken in the 17th minute after VCD keeper – and former Ashford man – Sam Mott parried Tashi- Jay Kwayie’s volleyed effort into the path of Jay May, who was first to react to fire home.
Josh Wisson doubled Ashford’s lead to score in his fourth consecutive game, hitting a free-kick low under the wall and into the bottom left corner.
