Basingstoke Town 4-0 Staines Town: Basingstoke break resistance to earn three points

■ HOME fans had to wait but once the experienced Rob Sheridan nodded Basingstoke in front midway though the second half, the goals flowed as Staines’ resistance was broken.
The game came to life after defender Sheridan flicked home a corner and within eight minutes the hosts had pulled three goals clear.
Stefan Brown converted a penalty to double Basingstoke’s lead and Conor Lynch bundled home the third – although Anton Rodgers’ lob may have already crossed the line.
