■ LANCING slumped to their heaviest defeat of the season. Such a scoreline did not seem likely as Lancing began the game brightly and enjoyed some good spells of possession. Itt was somewhat against the run of play when Herne Bay took the lead through Rory Smith after 13 minutes.
Lancing were then caught square with a ball over the top which Zak Ansah lifted over keeper Alieu Secka.
