Jai Reason put a clever flick through to Freddie Gard in the box who, in turn, found Tom Rich-ardson who fired Brentwood in front.
Bury pulled level with their first attack of the game when, after 19 minutes, a free-kick was played into the box by Jake Chambers Shaw and found Thomas Gee whose perfect header across the box was headed in by Joe White.
