■ LANCING came out on top with a home victory against third-placed VCD Athletic.
Anthony Adesite was an early threat but after working himself into a good position he fired tamely at Lancing keeper Alieu Secker and then had a shot blocked by Mo Zabadne. Lancing looked to have taken the lead after 21 minutes from a Louis Veneti header, which was ruled out for offside.
But after 26 minutes Lancing took the lead, Darius Goldsmith running on to a neat pass before coolly finishing.
