■ TWO second-half goals from Sam Bantick were enough for Grays Athletic to overcome in-form Maldon & Tiptree.
Maldon had the better of the first half and were rewarded with a penalty award against George Winn for handball. But Harry Phillips could not beat Grays custodian, Danny Sambridge diving low to his right and then preventing the follow-up.
Bantick’s first after 62 minutes was a fine lob over the defence after a Mitch Hahn long throw evaded the defence.
