■ A 68th-minute goal by Jamahl Godward claimed the full three points for Witham in a close contest at the Simarco Stadium.
Both sides showed plenty of attacking intent but they lacked the required cutting edge. Charlie Woods in the Bury goal saved well from Harry Norman but the contest did not open up until the second half.
