■ BOTH teams had to settle for a point in a drab encounter.
Gorleston started the game brightly and hit the bar after 12 minutes.
Basildon responded with a brilliant header from Callum Burkey that went just wide as they tried to stamp their authority on the game.
After 18 minutes Mike Salako beat the offside trap for the home side, but the keeper made a great save to deny Basildon.
Gorleston missed a sitter in the 56th minute as they started to dominate proceedings.
