■ BASINGSTOKE eventually broke Southall’s resistance as young winger Brody Peart beat Michael Edegbe after a number of fine saves from the visiting stopper.
Southall arrived seemingly content to settle for 0-0 and challenged Town to pierce a stubborn defence, while offering little going forward.
Edegbe kept his side level in the first half, twice saving well from Simon Dunn before producing an impressive double stop to deny George Reid and Brad Wilson.
