WALTHAM Abbey started strongly and were twice in on goal early, but Tandon and Zougui made last-ditch tackles to keep Bengal level.
Bengal grew into the game and began to impose themselves. Just after the half-hour mark, Makuendi’s delicate touch picked out Gregory who fired into the bottom right-hand corner.
Bengal defended brilliantly in the second half and earned a free-kick on the edge of the box in the 86th minute. Carvell whipped in teasing cross, and Tandon floated a header off a post and into the far corner.
