Match Preview: Concord Rangers v Whitehawk (Saturday, 3pm)

Struggling Concord Rangers face Whitehawk at Thames Road on Saturday looking to build on a win in their last league outing.

After securing all three points with a 3-2 victory over Hashtag United on April 13, the Beach Boys sit 20th in the Isthmian Premier Division.

They travel to play a Whitehawk side 13th in the standings, who also won their last match, 1-0 against Hastings United.

Concord are in bad form in the Isthmian Premier Division, with one win and five losses from their last six games.

With three wins and a draw over that period, Whitehawk’s form is much better – they have taken 10 points from 18, compared to Rangers’s three.

In the last 10 years, Concord and Whitehawk have played each other on eight occasions. Concord won four of them, Whitehawk two, and they drew twice.

On average, the Beach Boys scored 1.4 goals and the Hawks 0.6 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on March 24 2018, when Whitehawk won 2-0 at home.

With 32 goals in 36 games so far this season, the Beach Boys are the league’s second-lowest scorers with 0.9 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 69 goals at a rate of 1.9 per game.

The Hawks are also below average scorers, with 1.4 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.6. They have also conceded 1.4 goals per game.
