AFC FYLDE boss Dave Challinor has made forward Adam Farrell his fifth signing of the summer.

The former Chorley, Lancaster City and Kendal Town striker has been on Challinor’s radar for sometime and performed impressively during the Coasters’ recent pre-season friendly games with Chester FC and Wigan.

Speaking about his latest signing, Challinor said: “I’m delighted that Adam has agreed to join us, he’s someone who I’ve known for a long time as I’d played against him on three occasions during the season we beat the Lancaster team he was part of in the play-off final.

“He caught our eye again last season whilst we were at a game, funnily enough watching another player. He played in a midfield role for Kendal last season but he prefers to play as a striker and in the two games I’ve watched him this pre-season he’s played in a wide midfield/attacking role so he gives us plenty of options.

“He’s big, strong, and technically very good and we believe can player higher which fits with what we’re trying to do. He’s a quiet character but knows a few of our lads already and he’s already shown in training and in games the quality he has and what he’ll bring.

“For him to get off the mark goal scoring wise against Wigan will do him the world of good, the only slight disappointment from our perspective is that he’s unavailable for the first two games of the season due to an suspension carried over from the end of last season.”

Commenting on his move to Kellamergh Park, 22-year-old Farrell said: “My first impressions of the club are really good and the manager sold the club to me with his ambition and the club’s plans for the future.

“With the squad we have here should be challenging for promotion this season and I’m excited about this move as it’s a club that is going places.

“My preferred position is up front and I hope I can score a few goals for the club. I’m just looking at working hard and can’t wait for the season to start.”
