JAMES COLLIVER has left Northern Counties East League side Clipstone to become Sheffield FC’s new manager.

A former player-assistant manager at Frickley Athletic and Worksop Town, Colliver has also spent time as boss of Staveley Miners Welfare.

He steps up a division to take charge of Evo-Stik NPL Division One South club Sheffield after Andy Kiwomya resigned at the start of the week.

Former Barnsley, Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday player Kiwomya only took the reins at Sheffield last May but will remain with the club as head of youth development.

Colliver’s first game in charge will be Saturdays trip to Carlton Town with Sheffield sitting 16th in the league after Tuesday night’s 3-0 win at Belper Town.

Clipstone chairman David Paling said: “James Colliver advised myself that he will be resigning as manager Clipstone FC with immediate affect as he has accepted an offer to become manager of Sheffield FC.

“I would like to thank James for all his hard work making Clipstone a successful attacking football side in our first season in the NCEL Premier Division.”

A Sheffield statement added: “James will be in charge for the game against Carlton Town on Saturday and all at the World’s First Football Club wish him all the best in his new appointment.

“We’d like to thank Dave Paling and his colleagues at Clipstone FC for their support and making the way clear for James to join the club.”
