SALFORD CITY will return to our television screens after a second series of the BBC documentary Salford City: Out Of Their League was announced.

The first series, which was aired last Autumn, followed the club’s fortunes as the ‘Class Of 92’ – Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Gary and Phil Neville – underwent their first season in charge of the Ammies.

It also showed the end of Phil Power’s time as manager and the introduction of new joint-bosses Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley as Salford won the NPL Division One North on the final day of the season.

The new two-part series will air on BBC One later this year and will document another season of ups and downs at Moor Lane. The club of course made it to the second round and are also in the Evo-Stik NPL Premier promotion hunt.

Patrick , head of BBC documentaries, said: “The original series took us to the heart of a community where much was at stake as the new owners took over.

“Not only was it hugely entertaining, it also explored the often difficult relationship between tradition and progress that resonated with the wider audience. We are very excited to return to Salford for another season of highs and lows.”

Executive producer Meredith Chambers added: “I’m delighted to once again bring the story of Salford City to the BBC. Our cameras have been rolling since the start of the current season and there’s certainly more drama, on and off the pitch to come.”

Can’t wait to see it, it’s a long time since I played for the Ammies, but sure it will bring back fond memories.
