BARWELL skipper Michael Townsend’s 23rd-minute header proved the difference between the teams in Crosby.
Marine vkeeper Germano Mendes blocked Ryan Seal’s first-minute shot and the follow-up effort from the same player, and the Mariners then enjoyed the better of the opening 20 minutes.
However it was Townsend who broke the deadlock as he escaped his marker to meet a corner and head home.
