RICHARD Gregory’s late goal saw Stafford Rangers edge home against Ashton United.
In a fairly even first half, both teams had chances to get on the scoresheet.
Ashton’s came inside five minutes when an error from Jack Sherratt allowed Liam Tomsett to put in Matty Chadwick but he was kept out by Adam Whitehouse.
At the other end, Izak Reid’s deep cross picked out Gregory but his header was well saved by David Carnell.
