DEBUTANT 18-yearold goalkeeper Ryan Whitley and ex- Walsall opposite number Brad Caswell were the heroes after an eventful second half.
Beanpole Whitley, brought in on loan from York City just 24 hours earlier by a Whitby side on the back of eight winless games, had less to do than his Stafford opponent, but showed good hands throughout.
It was the goalkeepers and defenders that sparkled as neither side could find a way of putting this game to bed.
A dour first half gave way to a much more dramatic second period where Whitby were on top.
