SUTTON entertained high flying Workington who had made the long journey from Cumbria.
The hosts had enjoyed a two-week lay off and the appointment of their talisman Neil Tooth.
A long pass to the far post was headed over by debutant Matt Timms.
A long distance shot forced the Royals keeper into a diving save and the resultant corner was headed home by an unmarked Joshua Calvert.
A good piece of interpassing play and a neat piece of work by Checklaine Steele ended with Lee Smith shooting just wide.
