Mariners bounce back in style

SOUTH SHIELDS bounced back from their heavy midweek defeat at Farsley Celtic.
The Mariners played an hour with nine men at Farsley after Gary Brown and Carl Finnigan were sent off. Shields, stung by a rare defeat, erased the memory of that setback with a comprehensive win.
Diminutive striker Gavin Cogdon scored the opener with former Gateshead pair Rob Briggs and Finnigan on target after the break. Cogdon’s goal on the halfhour gave South Shields an interval lead in front of another four-figure crowd. Brown’s header in the firs...
