Shields rumble to easy victory

SOUTH Shields extended their lead at the top of the table to eight points with a comfortable victory over lowly Atherton Collieries at Mariners Park.
The hosts should have gone in front just seven minutes in when David Foley found Sanmi Odelusi in space five yards out.
Shields’ new striker, however, put the ball wide when it seemed easier to score than miss.
The Mariners came close again when a low Blair Adams ball found Gary Brown at the near post, but the defender poked his shot just wide.
