Matt’s fi nish sets up victory

WHITBY sealed victory thanks to two fi rst-half strikes which helped withstand a second-half Stafford rally.
The hosts nearly took an early lead when Matthew Tynan lifted a shot over the bar.
And they nearly notched a freak goal when Stafford defender John Moran’s clearance blew back towards goal, where keeper Jonathan Brown had to push the ball wide.
At the other end, Whitby keeper Shane Bland and Alex White combined to block successive efforts from Brad Grayson.
