TWO second-half goals saw Matlock to a comfortable home win.
Liam Hughes nodded in the opener and a fantastic effort from sub Danny Greenfield put the contest out of Stafford’s reach, despite the sending-off of Matlock sub and player-coach Kade Coppin with 16 minutes left.
Matlock might have been three goals to the good early on.
A Hughes volley from 25 yards struck the top of the bar, Andy Bond’s header was narrowly over, and Rangers’ goalkeeper Lewis King saved well in a one-onone from Callum Dolan.
