GLOSSOP came out on top in a six-pointer at the bottom end of the table.
Prescot had dominated proceedings early on, but late pressure from Glossop saw them take the lead just before the interval, when a low drilled shot from ex- Cables striker Jamie Rainford went in off a post.
The second half saw the visitors looking to build on their opener, with a couple of fine saves from Mitchell Allen denying them.
The only clear-cut chance from Cables came from Mafolo, his effort dipping just over the crossbar.
