■ United got off to a decent better start and captain Matt Cotton netted his fourth goal in two games from close range.
Cleethorpes responded swiftly though and a defensive mistake allowed Oli Donald to finish at the back-post.
As time ticked towards halftime, Town added two more in quick succession.
First, Josh Venney tapped in a rebound following Jack McMenemy shot, before Scott Vernon headed in at the backpost following a corner.
The fourth arrived soon after the break through Alex Flett’s free-kick.
