■ NEWCASTLE completed the double over Colne with a close-fought win on a heavy pitch.
After an even opening period the visitors took the lead when Billy Lloyd made a great run through a crowd of defenders into the Colne penalty area and James Askey’s shot was deflected across the face of goal to the far post where Jake Lovatt fired home to give his side the lead.
Colne looked for an equaliser and forced a series of free-kicks in dangerous positions before half-time but failed to find a good finish
