■ CLITHEROE kept the pressure on the final playoff place with a solid victory against a youthful Newcastle side.
Clitheroe had the bulk of chances throughout the game, but Newcastle were a persistent thorn in their side and simply short of an out-and-out goalscorer.
It took until the 37th minute for Clitheroe to finally take the lead. From a forest of players, Max Cane burst free and hit the ball superbly into the far corner to maintain his stupendous goal-scoring record.
