■ JAKE Orrell’s first-half strike was the difference as Consett picked up a hardfought win on the road.
Having impressed so far in their inaugural campaign at step four, the Steelmen almost went ahead inside 10 minutes when Orrell picked out Adam Mitchell, who fired inches wide.
Cyril Giraud drew a good save from Liburd Hines midway through the first-half, but the deadlock was broken when Orrell curled an effort in from 25 yards.
