■ RUNCORN Linnets continued their early-season form against Colne and closed the gap between them and Macclesfield to four.
Sam Heathcote and Jamie Rainford helped Runcorn pick up a vital win against Colne, who have struggled to get their season running.
Goals either side of the break were enough, with Heathcote wrestling against Andres Mendes to meet James Short’s cross to open the scoring.
