WIDNES moved out of the bottom four with a convincing win over City of Liverpool on Friday night.
They took the lead after 12 minutes when Connor McCarthy’s ferocious effort whistled past the stricken Ben Barnes and into the top corner.
Will Jones made it 2-0 just 37 seconds into the second half, lashing home from 12 yards after Sean Miller had initially hit a post. And it was three six minutes later. Matty Rain’s cross was headed against a post by Miller, but the ensuing loose ball was turned into his own net by Purps defender Nick Ryan.
