■ A HAT-trick from Nicky Maynard and a brace from James Berry helped settle a five-star performance for the Silkmen over City of Liverpool.
Macclesfield were awarded a penalty just three minutes in as Kane Drummond was brought down. Maynard stepped up and slotted the spot-kick home.
The hosts doubled the lead just before the break as Neil Danns slotted in Berry, who finished off on his return from injury.
Berry was involved again 20 minutes from time as he caught Ben Barnes off his line and bent an effort out the keeper’s reach.
