MATLOCK TOWN’S play-off challenge goes down to the wire following victory over Bamber Bridge, courtesy of an Alex Byrne penalty on the half-hour.
Brig contested the decision as Byrne went down under challenge from Joe Robbins, but referee Ashley Royston was adamant and Byrne calmly sent goalkeeper James Pradic the wrong way.
Matlock and could have led by more at the interval. Alex Duhameau went close in the 10th minute and both Byrne and John Johnston were close to converting a Duhameau cross just before the goal.
