■ AN emphatic victory saw Runcorn defeat bottom of the table Ramsbottom at the Apec Taxis Stadium and strengthen their chances of a play-off place.
Billy Paynter’s men opened the scoring after just two minutes when a low driven shot from Matty Birchall gave the goalkeeper no chance.
