MATLOCK’S Martin Carruthers would be the happier of the two managers as his side’s opening game against Bamber Bridge ended in a goalless stalemate.
The Gladiators played the final 22 minutes with ten men as half-time substitute Sam Hooper could have had no complaints for hauling back Jack Baxter 20 yards from goal, seeing referee Graeme Kearney brandish a red card.
