BOTTOM club Stafford shocked the majority of the 897 crowd.
Matlock, usually a strong unit at home, had a poor day at the office. Rangers – inspired by man of the match Sean Cooke – were a yard quicker to the ball.
Tyreece Onyeka forced a decent stop from Saul Deeney, with the goalkeeper also being well positioned to save from Connor Heath.
At the other end, Cameron Belford blocked Joe West’s effort from a wellworked corner before Stafford took the game by the scruff of the neck with two goals in three minutes.
