CITY of Liverpool missed the chance to strengthen their play-off position on an afternoon to forget.
The Purps could have gone ahead midway through the first half when a lovely ball in from Max Allen saw midfielder Simon Wills nod inches wide. In the second half, the hosts got a penalty when a brilliant run from Ismail Sonko saw the Purps midfielder felled by the last man.
Top scorer Josh Quarless stepped up, but was thwarted by the boot of Hanley custodian Adam Whitehouse, with Allen heading the loose ball over. Late on the Purps saw
