DARIUS OSEI’S header three minutes into first-half stoppage time was enough to hand Steve Cunningham’s Robins all three points.
Declan Howe had the best opportunity of the first half but as the Northolme crowd expected the net to buldge, with Fraser Preston well-placed, the ball dropped agonisingly the wrong side of the upright. As Trinity threw the kitchen sink at Ashton, it was the visitors who had clear opportunities to extend the lead, hitting Gainsborough on the counter.
