■ BLYTH Town’s debut in the Northern Premier League ended in a narrow defeat, away to Brighouse.
The side from the North East won promotion from the Northern League last season via the playoffs and were hoping for a win to mark their new adventure.
However, their hosts did not read that script and scored what turned out to be the game’s only goal after just 16 minutes – as Harvey Booth headed home a Rhys Plater cross.
