ASHTON United scored early and were able to hang on against Bamber Bridge in a fiercely-contested match between two teams separated by goal difference in mid-table.
It was Christmas Jumper day at Irongate with the Brig, like many other clubs, doing a food drive for local food banks.
In the fourth minute, the Robins forced a corner which was taken by Al Byrne and Sean Newton’s header bounced off a post and into the net.
