■ MATLOCK’S hopes of moving into the top two of the East Division table were dashed in emphatic fashion at Ossett on Boxing Day.
It took the hosts only a minute to show their superiority with Rhys Thomas finding his way to goal, waltzing past the Gladiators’ defence to plant the ball into the net past Dylan Wharton to give his side an early lead.
Jack Crook doubled the home advantage on the stroke of half-time and Jack Crook completed a comprehensive victory with 15 minutes to go.
