■ A much-improved Newcastle performance saw them go down to promotion-chasing Vauxhall Motors by a solitary goal courtesy of a disputed penalty at the end of the first half put away by Nick Rushton.
Castle came close to scoring on several occasions through Billy Baker, Will Arnold, Tim Grace and Oli Ritchie.
Castle felt they should have had a penalty when Ethan Vale went down in the box, but the referee then booked him for diving, before Rushton fired Motors ahead.
