This was first Darlaston’s first-ever gig in Atherton and they came looking for a league double after their 2-0reverse-fixture triumph.
The first half was an attritional affair with zero clear-cut chances. Luke Nock’s easy-on-the-eye, far-post scissor kick was the best opportunity, but it flashed high and wide.
