Dan Needham went close in the first half, in the opening 45 minutes which was certainly affected by the windy conditions.
The hosts broke the deadlock through top scorer Max McCarthy after 62 minutes, the birthday boy diverting the ball home.
Peter Williams could have doubled the hosts’ lead in the 80th minute, but his spot-kick was saved. Cole Ojungu made the game safe for Congleton with three minutes to go.
